About

In Spring 2015, thirty-one undergraduates at the University of North Texas enrolled in a Political Science course called Human Rights Advocacy & Activism.  This site is a front-end for the course; it is a way to highlight their work and their compassion, to call them to action, and to share their calls to action with the world.

The phrase “in this carload” comes from the poem written in pencil in the sealed freight car. The piece is survivor Dan Pagis’ breathtaking tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.  With her last words, Woman conveys a heartrending mix of confusion, fear, betrayal, terror.  The poem is etched in the victims’ memorial at Kozentrationslager Belzec near Lublin, Poland.
